Minnesota Mass Notification Program FAQ
How do we sign up?
Get a demo to schedule your initial onboarding meeting. The initial meeting is a virtual demo and discovery session scheduled for one hour. We recommend inviting any business and IT users who are stakeholders in your department.
Which department or official should onboard the agency for the service?
The IT administrator, emergency management coordinator, or designated communications official is the recommended representative for the agency during onboarding. If other departments are identified as the contact, exceptions will be reviewed for approval.
What types of notifications can we send?
The program supports comprehensive mass notification, including emergency alerts, weather warnings, public safety notifications, community announcements, event notifications, and administrative communications. IPAWS integration enables federal emergency alert distribution.
What kinds of recipients can we notify?
The program authorizes notifications to citizens, employees, contractors, visitors, students, parents, emergency responders, and other stakeholders based on your agency’s communication needs.
Do we have to integrate with our existing systems?
No. Integration lets you use the data already established in your systems for the most efficient use of the program. However, eCourtDate can be used entirely standalone. Authorized users can manually manage messaging and bulk upload contacts, and recipients can self-enroll directly through web portals.
What is the minimum data we need to provide?
The system can send alerts via phone, text, email, and push notifications, so you need at least one contact method. If you plan to bulk upload or integrate, provide recipient type, first and last name, phone and/or email, and person ID if available. For event notifications, we recommend providing event date, time, type, location, and incident details.
Which languages does the system support?
eCourtDate supports sending in over 100 languages with English as the default. The system allows auto-translation of templates, and we strongly recommend review by professional translators, especially for the Hmong, Somali, and Spanish languages commonly used in Minnesota communities.
Is geolocation targeting available with the Minnesota Mass Notification Program?
Yes. Geolocation targeting is available to agencies under the program for location-specific emergency alerts and community notifications.
How soon can we go live?
You can go live with eCourtDate in as little as one month. Onboarding includes integration, training, and configuration to meet your agency’s specific needs.
Is there a cost to use eCourtDate?
Awarded under a SWIFT contract, the Minnesota Mass Notification Program is provided through the state contract at negotiated rates. State agencies and CPV members can access the platform through this cooperative purchasing agreement.
Is there a cost to integrate with our existing systems?
In some cases, system providers may charge fees for integration. These fees, if applicable, are set by your system vendor and are not included in the scope of the SWIFT contract. eCourtDate does not charge any fees for integration.
Is training provided for staff?
Yes. We provide administrator and user training for your team, including how to manage notifications, view reports, and update preferences. Ongoing training is available after implementation.
